Why we're opening a long-form room next to the Brief — and what to expect inside it.
The Brief is a weekly artifact: a frozen snapshot of one issuer, one cohort, one sector, on one Friday. It is dense by design.
The Journal is the room next door. It is where we work out the ideas the Brief assumes:
- How we draw the line between a narrative and the evidence behind it.
- Why purified medians beat raw medians, with examples.
- What the Casper Test actually catches, and what it misses.
- The forensic stories behind specific scores — written in prose, not tables.

Expect short dispatches when something in the data changes, and long-form essays when the methodology evolves. Every post is a permanent, citable record — same archival posture as the Brief.
